A Kiss of Blue Smokey Eye Tutorial

For this Smokey eye look I wanted to try a more affordable brand eye shadow because my sister was interested in learning how to do a smokey eye and I know she does not like to pay more then a few bucks for shadow lol so here it is- I browsed the drug store and found Wet n Wild's "Blue Had Me At Hello" Palette for 4.95 at Walgreen's

Now I must be honest- I really haven't used Wet n Wild's makeup in Years! Besides their eye liner pencils in Idol Eye's which I absolutely LOVE! So I was a little worried about the pigment of the shadows and how well the shadows would blend- but lemme tell you something that I have learned in my experience with eye shadow- If you start with a Great eye primer- You can almost always get away with using cheaper shadows- Yet I still prefer brands like Urban Decay, Mac, and Too Faced because of the strong pigmentation, unique color selection and creaminess of the shadow- that helps them wash over the lid smoothly<3

Swatches

Now there are no names for the colors in this palette so I numbered them on the palette itself (picture shown above an below) these are the same numbers you will follow along with during the step by step tutorial, Below are the swatches for the Wet n Wild Palette in "Blue Had Me At Hello"

Here's a list of the products I used on my eye's to achieve this look:

1.    Wet n Wild's "Blue Had Me At Hello" Palette
2. Cover Girl Lash Blast Mascara in Very Black
3. Maybelline's Matte Eyeshadow in Earthly Taupe
4. Wet n Wild- Idol Eye's Jumbo cream shadow pencil in Pixie
5. Travel Size Urban Decay Primer
6. Sonia Kashuk Eye Liner pencil in Blackest

Okay let's begin(Example pictures shown below):

First Apply your eye primer- wait a few minutes and then wash over lid with fluffy brush using Earthly Taupe from lash line to brow bone -over entire eye area

Step 1. Using Wet n Wild's Idol Eye's cream Shadow in Pixie
apply pencil to the middle of lid area, around the outer tear duct area and over brow bone

Step 2. Apply color #1 from eyeshadow palette over the same 3 areas as in step 1 now using your fluffy brush

Step 3. Using #5 take your crease brush and apply color just to the upper outer corner area -Do Not brush all the way to end corner of eye- stay between outer pupil area to where the inner water line ends- then stop

Tip: If you don't want a blue hue to your smokey eye don't use #5 on step 3. an just go with something else like brown, gold, green, purple- whatever you like- but try to use a color with the same level darkness as this one- that way you achieve the same look but with the color you prefer.

Step 4. Now with your crease brush apply #7 to the very outer corner area and follow that up and around top of crease -stopping at the inner pupil area (picture shown below)

Step 5. Clean Crease brush with dry paper towel- then using #3 smooth over the end outer black line -just enough to soften the harsh line and give it a faded look (if you over blend you will either pull that dark color up too high on the brow bone or lose your black color from over blending) So try to just hit the outer rim area- your also gonna want to soften the middle area of lid in center between the black and white line, just soften slightly helping the color fade from white to silver to black.

Step 6. Using clean crease brush and Earthy Taupe shadow by Maybelline, go over the brow bone just kissing the outer shadow line- Why? because this shadow is Matte and will help to soften the look of the dark bold colors and the playground of shimmer we got goin on> this step pulls the eye together and makes it go from Drastic to sexy!

Step 7. Apply #7 under bottom lash area from the outer corner to about 1/4 inch to inner corner tear duct> when you hit the beige shimmer highlight you applied in Step 1

Step 8. Line eye's both outer upper lash line and lower water line with Black pencil liner I used Sonia Kashuks Eye Smudge in Blackest, then went over it again using my eye liner brush and eye shadow #7 from palette to soften the black and soak up any moisture making that liner last all day long.
And now it's time to curl those lashes and add mascara- I used Lash Blast Mascara from Cover Girl- Because Frankly It get's the job done! It makes my lashes look thicker and longer an after just 2 coats- I freakin Love it! (That and Stiletto Mascara from Maybelline, non water proof kind) They both work fantastic

And here's another Liner and Mascara pic with better lighting :)

And here is the finished product- A beautiful Smokey eye with a kiss of blue color- that really brightens up the face and gives a Wow look to the eye's :D
For the blush I'd stick with something Bronzey or pink but not too pink :because the eye's are so powerful, you don't want it to start looking clownish LOL and for the lips I used my Old Faithful Matte Lipstick from Sephora in Rouge R15

Well I hope you like this look- If you try it out, Please Drop me a Comment to tell me what you think- Comments, and Feed Back is always appreciated : D I hope you all have a  gorgeous day Glammie Gals <3
